NEWSLETTER Archives
hS2 Clerk’s corner
By Viv Robins, Clerk to The Lee Parish Council

I know there is plenty elsewhere in this Newsletter about the HS2 campaign, but it won’t have escaped the notice of all those who are keen to make their voices heard that all the public meetings to date have been held outside The Lee.

Well this month we have our Parish Annual Meeting, which as those occasional attenders in the past may remember is specifically designed to allow parishioners to raise matters of interest and concern. It therefore seems like the ideal forum to take on discussion of HS2 and we have invited two speakers who can update us on the state of the campaign: Steve Rodrick, Chairman of the Chiltern Conservation Board, and Kathryn Gurney, a lawyer who has been involved in the HP16 Campaign Group and also has valuable knowledge gained from her time living in Kent when the High Speed rail link to the Channel Tunnel was hotly contested there.

The meeting will be at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 19th May at the Parish Hall, so please put it in your dairy. It would also be helpful if you could e-mail me at viv.robins@tinyworld.co.uk if you wish to attend so we can get some idea of numbers.

Fancy being a Councillor?

Karel Lewis is sadly resigning from the Parish Council as she is moving out of the area and I will shortly be posting up the notice of vacancy which will trigger a by-election if requested by 10 electors. In the likely eventuality that one is not called for the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option. If you think you might be interested, or would just like to know a bit more about what the job entails, then please contact me on 837278 or by e-mail.

Mobile library date change
Bucks County Council is making changes to its mobile library service from Tuesday 1st June. We are hanging on to our two stops within the Parish, but from that date the van will stop on alternate Fridays, instead of Mondays, and at slightly earlier times – at The Lee Parish Hall from 10:40-11:10 am and the Old Swan public house at Swan Bottom from 11:20-11:40 am.
