Reinas view How dare they!!!
By Reina Free

It is still early in the morning; the daylight is only just breaking through the gloom of an again rainy day. I am standing in the doorway of our very small sunroom we call ‘The island of Peace’ looking out over the fields and hills, near and in the distance. In spite of the greyness of the just born-again day, I hear the singing of the lark. I have a feeling he (or she) is sitting in the ‘still waiting to be ploughed’ barley stubble.

I wonder will one day his singing be silenced by the screaming of the proposed High Speed train roaring through and over the valleys and hills.

Never… I say again, never! No one, whenever, wherever, whatever will ever destroy this beautiful land.
Now is – and must be – the time when our backs are once more against the wall. We will fight and protest in the valleys, the fields and meadows, country lanes and narrow tracks; whatever it takes – yes, I am even prepared to go to jail. For this Dutch woman is saying to all those in high places “This is also my land”.

And I say also to all those who are angry and upset: “IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!”
