A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our St George’s Day event, in aid of Help for Heroes, such a success.
Over 58 friends joined us at the Parish Hall to battle their way through the piles of pasties and puds and a wonderful team of helpers made sure that everything ran smoothly.
In total we raised £585.27 to help our injured forces returning from Afghanistan. This was boosted to an amazing £735.27 by donations from some very generous friends who were unable to be there on the night.
The St George’s Day event was actually a follow-up to a light luncheon party that I held just a few months ago, clearing a further £70 for the charity. I know that a small group of Lee ladies are already planning to hold similar luncheons for eight to 10 people (charging just £10 a head). If you’d like to support this very worthy cause by doing the same, I’d be more than happy to advise on how to go about it.
