Lee Common School By Arabella Norton The summer term has got off to a flying start with wonderful May Day Celebrations. Thank you to all who came along to support the school. We had a record number of visitors interested to see all the changes which have taken place and enquiries about the school from parents of the nursery children. We hope that you also enjoyed all the various stalls and bought lots of yummy cakes and goodies for your home. Huge thanks must go again to Mrs Dean who voluntarily gave up her time to teach the children to dance so beautifully. In case you missed their performance at school, you will have a chance to see the children dance at The Lee Church Fête on Saturday 19th June. Thank you too for all those of you who sponsored children for their sponsored spell. £526.48 has been raised so far and all the money will go towards buying new books for the school. Yesterday the children were extremely fortunate to be taken to Chiltern Open Air Museum for their school trip. They have been learning about building materials this term and appreciated the chance to do some hands-on practical work themselves and so, amongst other things, were making bricks. During the week beginning Monday 17th May it was ‘walk to school week’ so you hopefully noticed the difference in the reduction of traffic in Oxford Street. We were blessed with good weather and the children enjoyed getting reward stickers. Fundraising efforts are underway to replace the rotten climbing frame with new playground equipment. If anyone would like to contribute to this very worthy cause please contact the school office. |
