| You too can walk the Chiltern Way By Viv Robins We mentioned in the April Newsletter that the Chiltern Society was staging a Walking Festival to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Chiltern Way, the 278 kilometre-long circular footpath which criss-crosses this area of outstanding natural beauty. The full list of walks is now available on its website, www.chiltern.society.org.uk. The walks continue until mid-October and while many originate in neighbouring counties others are closer to home in Bucks, starting from places such as Chesham Bois, Penn and Tylers Green. If you would like to walk the whole route you might like to know that Chiltern Society volunteers are leading a series of linear walks on Sundays between now and September. If you do manage to do the lot you will receive a certificate to say so once you’ve completed the final walk on 25th September! If you are planning to join a walk the Society asks that you phone the walk leader in advance so they have some idea of numbers. Again, their names are to be found in the Festival programme, available on the website. The Society can also be contacted by phone on 01494 771250 or by e-mail at office@chilternsociety.org.uk. The walks programme will be continually updated on our website www.chilternsociety.org.uk where you will also find details of the route of the Chiltern Way. Alternatively, contact The Chiltern Society, White Hill Centre, Chesham, 01494 771250. |
