Your letters
To the EditorMy mother, Mrs Mary Osborne, celebrated her 100th birthday on 1st May. Last year there was a mention in the Newsletter congratulating her on entering her 100th year. My neighbours think another mention might be nice. It was a very happy occasion. The sun shone. All her friends and neighbours from Sly Corner and the village came to help celebrate. Never were there seen so many flowers and cards! Thank you Carol Osborne (Daughter) Sly Corner, Lee Common
To the EditorAs many of you may know I celebrated my 50th birthday on the 23rd April. I would like to thank so many of you for all your kind wishes, cards and presents. April was a month of numerous celebrations with all the great people of The Lee, Lee Common, Swan Bottom and Ballinger. Highlight was my school friend from Canada managing to somehow dodge the ash cloud to fly from Canada to Paris, then train to the UK just in time for my party. Now that is real friendship. We had a lovely summer’s evening on the patio at ‘Annie Baileys’ – special thanks to Dave, Vicky and Mal who put on a magnificent spread for me. ‘My Young Bucks’ (see above) had many a female heart racing and made sure it was a night to remember for sure! Thank you to one and all!! Kelly Stone The Lee Many thanks to all who helped collect litter on Sunday 25th April and to Ann Ash for arranging removal. I think it was easier this year. Still a great deal of rubbish but perhaps there are those who are thinking twice about throwing litter from their cars. Thanks also to those who pick up litter on their daily walks. The rubbish does appear again pretty quickly but at least we keep on top of it. Pat Chinnery The Lee |
