flowers A village life in flowers
By Trish Swain

By the time you read this the Flower Show will be fast approaching and the promise of the long summer holidays a delightful prospect. But before you know it September will be here and The Lee will reawaken for the next round of village events.

This year we have the prospect of a celebration of Village Life in the Church (see Newsletters passim) over the weekend of 17th to 19th September to add to the mix!

We are delighted that 19 village groups and organisations are going to be represented in the Church and that nine local artists are going to be exhibiting in The Lee Old Church too, over the period. From the donations made by visitors and the proceeds of the concert, we are hoping to raise money towards much needed refurbishment to bring the facilities in St John the Baptist Church into the 21st century.

So here’s a rundown:
Friday 17th September – a chance to view the displays in both churches from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, tea, coffee and cakes will be available.
Saturday 18th September – both churches open from 10:00am -
5:00 pm, tea, coffee and cakes available.
Followed by ‘The Glory of the Garden’ an evening performance of poetry, prose and song performed by Kate Larmour and Friends. Tickets are £10 to include a glass of wine and canapés, available from Judy Hart 01494 837328, Janet Whittow 01296 624568 and Mike Senior 01494 837757.
Tickets for this event will be available from early July, so buy early to avoid disappointment.
Sunday 19th September – 10:00 am Family Harvest Festival – all welcome. Both Churches open from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Tea, coffee and cakes available. Sung Evensong with a visiting choir at 6:00 pm followed by ‘a bring and share supper’. All are welcome to join in.
