By Judy Hart On any fifth Sunday during the year the four parishes join together for a special service with a guest speaker. On the 30th May, in the Parish Hall, Emma Burgess gave a fascinating and moving account of the work she completed in Mexico last year. Emma worked in a school located in the slums and also volunteered in a local orphanage. Her photos showed the enjoyment she gained from her experiences but also demonstrated the huge needs of the children. Emma passed on to us some stories of the traumatic events that the children had been through. The work she carried out must have been very challenging, especially for a young person, however the benefits for the children will be immeasurable. The two charities, ‘Outreach International’ and ‘Feed the Children’, rely on donations to keep doing the wonderful work they are doing and, as is usual on the fifth Sundays, the collection on that day of nearly £250 will be divided equally between the two. |
