Leeside Nursery newsBy Suzanne Beaney The first half of the term we have been looking at ‘minibeasts’. The children have loved this subject as they have spent much of their time outdoors hunting for various bugs, catching them and looking at them through magnifying bug pots. We looked at the life cycle of the butterfly and brought some caterpillars for the children to watch turn into butterflies. We looked at the lifecycle of a frog and the children looked at snails and worms that we brought in. They also had the opportunity to paint bugs and made some fantastic wall displays. The children enjoyed their walk up to Lee Common School for the annual maypole dancing. Thank you to the school for inviting us. During the second half of the term we are going to be looking at farm animals and have planned a visit from a farm to come and show the children the animals. We also have our sports day to look forward to. Fingers crossed the rain holds off for us. This will be my last term at nursery as I am having another baby in August but Kay the deputy manager will be taking over the reins at the nursery. I will still be working from home and I’m sure with a new baby on the way I will have plenty to occupy me. |
