The Lee Cricket Club
By Jon Swain, Chairman

The cricket season is now well under way and England has won the World Cup! Not the football one yet, but the 20/20 cricket version. The Lee 1st XI is through Round 1 of our 20/20 Cup and is presently second in the league, winning some and losing some. Other sides are also having mixed success, as we try to pursue a policy of ensuring everyone gets in the game. Sometimes that happens without trying! Luke Raffety scored a connoisseur’s century against Chesham Bois, crafted without risk, but superbly executed.

HS2 The film crew came to the ground as anticipated and the programme about the village and the Great War is due to screened on Channel 4 on Monday 19th July.

Friday nights have been very successful; the ground looks absolutely superb, but we are not resting on our laurels. We are always looking out for new players, so if you would like to play, or get involved in any way, please contact me via our website www.theleecc.org.uk.

Our aim is to make cricket available to all ages and to be all inclusive. We are proud of our success, but want to go further whilst ensuring that at heart we are a village club, at the heart of the village.
