The Lee WIBy Joyce Swain The Lee WI met at the Parish Hall on Tuesday 8th June. The Vice-President thanked the members who had made the ploughman’s lunch on 3rd June so successful. The Treasurer gave us the financial news – better after the ploughman’s! We shall have a stall at The Lee Flower Show and the Secretary asked for volunteers – and cake makers! We then had an interesting talk from Mr Edwin Rye on ‘David Austin Roses’. It takes at least 10 years to develop a new variety – and a lot of hard work! There was a beautiful fragrance from the specimens he brought with him. We ended the meeting with our usual delicious tea. Our next meeting is on July 13th when Mrs Mitchell will talk about ‘The other end of the tape measure’. |
