Clerk’s CornerBy Viv Robins, Clerk to The Lee Parish Council I am pleased to report that we now have a new Councillor to replace Karel Lewis, who sadly had to give up the job after she moved away from the Parish. She is Frances Nichols, a former neighbour of Karel in Hunt’s Green Cottages. Frances is a freelance HR advisor and assessor for both the NHS and Judicial Appointments Commissions. Most of her career was spent working for the British Council which promotes co-operation between the UK and countries overseas – useful practice for helping keep the peace at Parish Council meetings. Frances Nichols Bucks debate starts here In her article on page 1 Cllr Birchley mentions the debate that is currently taking place across Bucks enabling residents to suggest where the inevitable financial cuts can best be made. There are a series of events planned for September (full list at www.buckscc.gov.uk/bucksdebate), but the most convenient one for The Lee is 16th September at the Waterside Combined School, Chesham. Huge Help for Heroes You may remember that Margaret Thaiss organised a St. George’s Day event in aid of Help for Heroes, the new charity which supports wounded soldiers in Afghanistan and elsewhere. That raised an impressive £735 and was on the back of earlier fund-raising efforts. I can now report that in total a donation of over £1000 was made to the charity – a truly spectacular result. Congratulations to Margaret and all who took part. |
