Floral Festival gets final touchBy Trish Swain and Judy Hart As summer nears its end we are putting the finishing touches to our Village Life in Flowers preparations and are thrilled to have 20 village groups and organisations represented in the Parish Church and nine local artists in The Old Church. It is envisaged that as many as possible of those taking part will set up on Thursday 16th September, when the Church will be open from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm and members of the Committee will be on hand to help. If absolutely necessary the Church can be open on the Friday morning, but you will need to contact Judy Hart on 837328 or Janet Whittow on 01296 624568 to arrange access. The displays will be open to all from 2:00 - 5:00 pm on Friday 17th September, 10:00 - 5:00 pm on Saturday 18th and 12:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday 19th with tea, coffee and cake available for purchase. The exhibition by local artists in the Old Church will also be open then and we are delighted to announce that some of the artworks are for sale, with a percentage going towards Church funds. Please remember to label your display, providing information about your organisation, contact details, etc. We are looking for volunteers to help with stewarding (for an hour or so), and if you can donate a cake for the teas please contact Janet or Judy. Tickets for the Concert on the Saturday, an evening of song, poetry and prose entitled The Glory of the Garden and performed by Kate Larmour and friends, are also available from Janet or Judy or Mike Senior on 837757. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to our very special celebration at some point over that weekend. |
