school Lee Common School
By Arabella Norton

We are pleased to welcome back everyone from the holidays and we give a particularly warm welcome to all the new children and their families starting at our school.

Last term’s news seems ages away – so here is a very quick re-cap of some of the highlights. We held a very successful sports day and had a whole week dedicated to sports. Some of the Year 2 children were invited to a tennis festival at Holmer Green School and one of our pupils, Rory Lawson, was in the winning team. Holmer Green Secondary School also hosted a games festival and the following pupils were awarded special commendations – Gymnastics: Holly Jarvis, Amelia Murrell, Merryn Sutaria, Isabel May; Gymnastics and Orienteering: Ella Gurney and Maximilien Buisson; Long Jump: Joe Richardson; and Golf: Felix McIntyre and Lewis Connor.

The Year 1 pupils were invited for a sports morning to Little Kingshill School and they too enjoyed competing against another school. The Year 2 children also all successfully completed a Biking Basics Course which was run by Stuart Lindsey, our School Sports Co-Ordinator.

Our dancing fame is spreading even wider and again a huge thanks must go to Mrs Dean for all her coaching. This year for the first time our maypole dancers performed not only at the Church Fête but also the Great Missenden School Summer Fair.

The Healthy Schools Award that we received earlier this year could not have been won without Mrs Chinnery and Mrs Ash, who helped get the vegetable garden and flowerbeds in tip-top condition.

We were very sorry to say ‘goodbye’ to all our Year 2 leavers and we had a special service in the church to mark the end of their time with us. Thank you to Revd Burgess and the guest of honour, Mrs Ash, for doing this so well.

For the first time we are holding an open morning for all prospective parents. This is on Tuesday 5th October, commencing at 9:30 am. Please could you contact the school office by either email on office@leecommon.bucks.sch.uk or phone 837267 to register your place.
