fiona jones New leader for the Beavers
By Fiona Jones

For the past year 1st Lee Common Beavers has sadly been inactive, but it will be starting up again on 14th September when I take over as leader.

I live in Marriotts Avenue in South Heath and have three young sons and I am a teacher of Italian, a former journalist and a Queen’s Guide.

Beaver Scouts is the first rung on the Scouting family ladder and is for boys aged six to eight. It gives boys the chance to make friends and have lots of fun playing games, going on visits and trying out new activities. They then move up to Cubs at the age of eight and on to Scouts aged 10.

I am looking forward to showing the boys that there is more to life than watching television and playing computer games, especially when, at that age, they have so much energy and enthusiasm. Living in the Chilterns we are blessed with beautiful countryside right on our doorsteps, and I hope that we as a group will be able to make the very most of this.

Beavers will meet on term-time Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Lee Common Scout Hut, which is next to the Parish Hall and Village Shop.

If your son would like to join, or if you would like any other information, please call me on 868645 or contact me at jones.fiona@btinternet.com
