Bucks
debate continues…By the Editorial Team Bucks County Council launched it’s ‘big debate’ in September – to help it cut £62 million from its budget over the next 4 years! Meetings with local residents have been held throughout the county during September. Suggestions as to how it should reduce costs have come forth as diverse as capping council employees’ salaries, reducing council newsletters sent out to residents and dealing with the issue of underutilised property. Bill Chapple, BCC’s Deputy Leader reported that the council has already voted on cuts of £9.2 million, adding that it has got to make more tough decisions in the coming months. He said “All comments will be taken into consideration and will help us in our budget setting”. The Lee residents can still offer their ideas either by collecting and returning a Bucks Debate leaflet from their local library or by visiting the Bucks County Council website at www.buckscc.gov.uk/bucksdebate. So hurry, otherwise something you particularly value may be sacrificed in favour of something you don’t! |
