We have recently been sent aerial photographs of HS2 works in the local area. WARNING: they may be both interesting and depressing! The views are:-
- South over Jenkins Wood towards the North Portal of the Chiltern tunnel – showing the beginning of the excavation of the portal cutting (centre right) and the area running from there towards Frith Hill and the former W&M building, in which concrete barrettes will be sunk to stabilise the ground where the Chiltern tunnel emerges from the chalk.
- East from the portal construction compound towards Great Missenden showing the construction compound site, the routes of the Internal Access Roads (IAR), temporary stockpiles and the beginnings of the excavation of the portal cutting (centre left).
- Looking back towards the portal from Liberty Lane showing Potter Row (on the left) and the routes of the IARs.
- North West from the Leather Lane crossing towards Hunts Green showing the temporary stockpiles and ponds near Leather Lane, the route of the IARs, Hunts Green Farm and the Grims Ditch area.
