Parish Council Elections

The Parish Council has no formal role in the election process other than to publicise it and to encourage applications. However, it would be useful in terms of planning the early meetings of the new council if residents who make applicants could advise me in confidence that they have applied, so that I can form an early view as to the likelihood of a contested election.

[NOTE: It is preferred that applicants deliver their own forms (as they will be checked before being accepted). However, it is possible, if necessary for someone else you trust to deliver them on your behalf.]

If there are 7 or fewer applicants for The Lee Parish Council, then it is an ‘uncontested election’ and all of those that have applied are appointed. If there are more than 8 applicants, then it will go to ballot (along with the elections to Bucks Council) on 1st May.

Any further queries about the election should be addressed to… The Electoral Registration Officer and Returning Officer, Sarah Ashmead, via: Electoral Services, The Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury, HP19 8FF. Email: elections@buckinghamshire.gov.uk Tele 01296 798141

Good luck.
