The covers of the programmes have evolved significantly over the years.

In 1901 the cover included an ornate line drawing.
In the ensuing years, the covers were extremely plain and utilitarian…




… with a gradual move towards being more informative.









From the 1960s some illustrations were introduced…




… before a change showing more details of the various classes, cups and races was introduced. The one exception to this was in 1977, when there was an illustrated cover marking the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.














From the 1980s the cover was always illustrated, initially with simple line drawings. The coloured covers were in fact prizewinners from Class 80 – Design a Flower Show Cover.
